Learn how to create a website that contains Flash content and then publish it. This is a one day course covering the basics of creating pages in Dreamweaver, optimising images for inclusion in the page, creating links and rollover buttons. We will also show you how make effective but simple Flash content.
What you will learn
Flash CS 4 - Designer
The stage and scenes -
Getting started needs an underpinning knowledge of the document properties and the stage. You can also have multiple scenes each scene having it’s own timeline and layers.
Drawing tools -
Flash has some unique drawing features that are worth exploring before you start to animate. In this section you will cover some familiar and not so Familiar tools.
Working with imported images and graphics -
Discover how to add graphics from Illustrator. Learn how to include and animate images. You will also gain an insight into how to use symbols, embedded symbols and buttons.
The Timeline -
This is the key to creating motion. After this chapter you will know how to control frame by frame animation, smooth transitions and tweening.
Creating motion and shape animation -
Flash has the ability to resize, spin and change the shape of objects and images. Once mastered the new automated animation feature in CS4 provides an amazing level of control not seen before.
Adding layers -
Layers allow Flash to run overlapping timelines each with it’s own set of events. Layers also provide masking, required for effects such as spotlights, text highlights and more.

Dreamweaver CS 4
Creating a site -
Create a site from scratch including establishing a server side relationship and a live connection.
File structure within the site folder -
Manage your pages, images and assets. Create mini sites within sites.
Basic pages, the environment and tools -
Learn how to label pages, build content with and without tables. Control the position of page elements and the attributes of these elements. Discover how to optimise and include images.
Exploring the code and basic Tags -
In this chapter, we look at basic HTML tags and how these can be controlled using basic CSS functions. This allows for the look of multiple pages to be controlled from a single CSS source file.
Adding links, rollovers and buttons -
Once we have a few pages that make up the web site, learn how to add navigation and links. Buttons and rollover links can be easily created to add more interesting navigation.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) -
We will explore SEO an terms of adding keywords to your pages, understanding sponsored links and how search engines discover and index your site.
Looking at the page as HTML code -
To help understand what you have created, it’s important to know how to work in code view.
